This vacation spot was a great one - probably one of my most memorable - we had such a great time with family. We also had great weather! The pool was relaxing, the food was fantastic, the beach was always sunny - it was a rather short trip, but most definitely a place we will be traveling back too.
Day 1 - We headed to Savannah for the day - we were only there for a few hours before heading to Sea Island so we took a tour of the city; We used a Trolley - this honestly was the best way to get a glimpse of the whole city. We learned some fun facts, got to see what seemed like the entire city, and even had the opportunity to get off and on the trolley as we pleased to walk around & enjoy the area. I recommend doing something like this on your first day so you get a feel for the city, have a better understanding, and can easily navigate throughout!
Byrd's Famous Cookies is a MUST! They have an awesome tasting bar (cookie bar) set up where you are able to sample every cookie. Not only does this place in my opinion have some AMAZING cookies, but I really loved the history of the building. It was super rustic and unique - much like the rest of the city.
Day 2 - Sea Island! - I was super excited to finally get to the island, this was my first time in Georgia! I wish we had spent more time in Savannah but nonetheless we saw just enough to know that this was a place we wanted to come back too - but for now we were thrilled to be enjoying our time at Sea Island! It was roughly an hour in a half car ride from Savannah to the Island. Our resort was one of my favorites - staying in the condos is great if you have a large family. There are 2 bedrooms upstairs and 2 bedrooms on the main floor, one room with a king bed, the other with 2 full / queen beds. All 4 bedrooms have their own bathrooms which was a nice bonus. There is also a large living / dining area and a full kitchen - this worked perfectly for us because we ate lunch back at the condo's. The condo's are just a 5 minute walk from the pool / beach. For dinner we went to one of the restaurants located at the Cloister - Tavola - this was an Italian style dining which was super yummy - their menu had a good selection of dinner options - all which sounded great! I recommend putting this on your list of places to eat.
Day 3 - Today we went kayaking! We did the Family Salt Marsh Kayaking Tour - this was a guided tour in the marsh. So many interesting things were shared by the tour guides - which were fantastic - they were friendly and personable. Our tour was about 2 hours, we kayaked around the area and even got out of our kayaks at one point to walk along the beach (which was actually the ocean floor! We were able to walk along the area since it was low tide). This was a great tour and something that your whole family can enjoy. Pro tip - wear sunscreen!
Day 4 - Today we went to the shooting school. This was my first time shooting so I was very timid - but the instructor was very understanding and worked with me to help me get over any fears I was having. If you are looking for something family friendly to do I highly recommend making a reservation (you do need to book one in advance).
